French Corner was the initial retail business which was rebranded in 2005 as NOLIMIT, which has now expanded to 21 state-of-the-art branches enabling customers to access the brand from convenient locations across the country including Colombo, Negombo, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Panadura and Kandy.
Today the retail chain is a shopping destination which caters to the fashion needs of the entire family. In addition to NOLIMIT, there is Glitz, a lifestyle store, Pallu for ethnic wear and discount store Y Pay More. NOLIMIT has its own in-house design team that develops brands and also has products sourced from overseas as well as locally manufactured products to offer a wider range to customers.
Al Haj Mr.Mubarack invests in training and developing the staff and strongly believes that content employees will be committed to provide customers with good service. The fashion stores provide employment for over 1,800 people even though it is Muslim own business more than 80 percent of the staff working here are non Muslims of young males and females from all corners of the Island. It has a total of over 325,000 square feet of retail space making it the largest retail chain in the country.
Free accomadations is provided to male staff from outstations working here. Every year many hundreds comes to work here , specially the school leavers and young youth who are more than happy with what they are paid and all other facilities given to them as an employee. Have noted that many youths working in middle east specially in textiles, fashions are the past staff of Nolimit.
This business has faced several challenges including the recent past of some showrooms attacked by said to be rationalist which includes the complete burn down in Panadura. Some rationalist too has been requesting the major community to boycott Nolimit. How ever by the grace of Almighty this organisation has been flourishing and expanding day by day. And we could see many non muslim customers here though out the Year.
And here I am liable to mention some facts about the personal life of the founder Al Haj Mubarak , by personality he is a gem of a person, looks odd in his white Jubbah and cap, where ever he goes or stands in front of anyone . Gentle, kind and most simplest. Seen him involving in masjid acts and a generous giver. Never sends back anyone who comes for any helps needed for religious places, functions, sports or any social activities. He gives them all no barrier what religion or race or for what they need, wether it's a Masjid , Temple , Church or a Kovil. He donates them all as same.
